PACIFICA (USA)- Two kayakers fishing off Pacifica State Beach near San Francisco were attacked by a great white shark.

The attack reportedly occurred just outside the area frequented by surfers and swimmers. The shark, about 12 feet long, lifted the kayak out of the water and started shaking the boat, one of the kayakers said to CBS. Then it circled the kayak for a while.

Following the attack, the kayakers returned to shore. Both were not physically harmed in the incident but got quite a scare.

Authorities have been monitoring the beach ever since. Officials with the Pacifica Public Works plan to post signs warning the public about the incident.
